Being in Nature provides a timeless retreat in a changing world. Our visitors often say they are stepping back in time here at our Earth Centre in Nottinghamshire’s Trent Valley. We’ve been here since 1997 in a Regency Gothic Lodge built in the 1790s, quietly remaking the botanical gardens, regenerating the land with rare breed sheep, fighting for ancient trees and helping wild species such as birds, bat colonies and bumblebees survive in their lifelong habitats.  Up to this year, we were entirely funded by our founder, but now we need your help and in exchange we would like to welcome you into our hitherto secret world.

Now you can join St. George’s Trust to receive news of our activities or visit us for open days, bat walks, moth-nights, star-gazing, plant identification and country matters for nature folk of all ages. At present we’re busy setting up our Living Library of learning materials about local plants, ecology, landscape and folklore, to complement the gardens, all whilst maintaining our Gothic building against the ravages of time!
